Mableton is a city in southern Cobb County, Georgia, set along the Chattahoochee River a short drive northwest of downtown Atlanta. It is the largest city in Cobb County, with a population of roughly 79,000, and one of the largest cities in Georgia. Its identity is anchored by two features: the Chattahoochee River, which forms its southeastern border and separates Cobb County from Fulton County, and the Silver Comet Trail, a paved rail-trail that runs through the city on its way toward the Alabama line. The city is among Georgia's newest. Voters in the unincorporated Mableton area approved incorporation in November 2022, and the first mayor and city council were elected in 2023, formalizing a community that had long existed as a census-designated place within Cobb County.
